Livelihoods & Crafts
Supported by SIDBI Cluster Intervention, with PUM Netherlands
Training artisans to make quality furniture is only half the job — without exposure to international design standards, production techniques, and export-market expectations, Jodhpur’s wood-craft manufacturers risked staying capped at the local market they already knew.
On 15 September 2022, UJAS hosted a “Session on Technical Advisory and Consultancy for Furniture Manufacturers” at Chandra Inn, Jodhpur, bringing in Marike Weeger and Hilke Tol, senior experts from PUM Netherlands, under the SIDBI Cluster Intervention programme, with EPMG Advisory Services Pvt. Ltd. and the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) as implementing partners.
The session gave Jodhpur’s furniture manufacturers — many of them the same artisans trained through UJAS’s Wooden Handicrafts Cluster — direct access to international design and production consultancy, connecting local craftsmanship with global manufacturing standards and export expectations.
