Child labour rescue operation: UJAS saves 12 children from hazardous worksites

Acting on tip-offs from community informants, UJAS field workers and Child Welfare Committee members conducted a coordinated raid on three construction sites near Pali, rescuing 12 children aged between 8 and 14. All children have been enrolled in bridge schools and their families are receiving livelihood support through the organisation's rehabilitation program.

UJAS crafts centre wins national award for women's empowerment innovation

The UJAS Women's Crafts Centre in Jodhpur has been recognised with the National Award for Excellence in Women Empowerment by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The centre, which trains Pakistani women migrants in traditional Rajasthani crafts including bandhani, leheriya, and block printing (funded by District Industrial Center, Rajasthan State Government), currently supports over 120 artisans earning sustainable incomes.

A coalition of civil society organisations led by UJAS organised a state-wide climate march demanding urgent government action on drought compensation, water rights, and ecological restoration. A unique field-immersion internship programme run by UJAS is producing a new cohort of socially committed young professionals. Students from across India — law, social work, journalism and public policy — spend 2–3 months living and working alongside marginalised communities in Rajasthan, learning ground-up approaches to legal aid, community organising, and advocacy that classrooms rarely teach.
