Funding projects on Early Childhood Education (ECE) in the refugee settlement of Anganwa, Jodhpur. Preparing children for government schools in accordance with regional education standards.

Health & Hygiene Camps (HAF)

Coordinated with the District Health Department to organize camps on health, hygiene, awareness, and disease prevention, especially crucial post-pandemic.

Pandemic Impact Study & Livelihood (ISF)

Ran a study to estimate the impact of the pandemic on 800 displaced families. Also assessed the usage of palm leaves for daily items to assist women in creating a sustainable livelihood.

Schools & Sanitation Drives (IDRF)

Ran schools in 5 regions of Jaisalmer with quarterly activities on water usage, sanitation, and health. Sanitary napkins were distributed among young girls and women alongside educational awareness.

Women Artisans Empowerment (Women Serve)

Worked with women artisans in Kaan Singh ki Sid and Ghantiyali on skill building and design development of traditional textiles, helping them access international markets.

Ran shelters for the homeless and down-trodden, providing them with safety, security, and a place to belong with support from local government bodies.

Trauma & Mental Health Support (CHI)

Addressed the trauma and pain of displacement. A team led by a clinical psychologist resolved numerous cases and introduced healthy coping skills to settlers.

Textile Cluster Development (DIC)

Empowered refugee women through training and skill building for textile design development, reviving traditional art forms and opening new markets for sustainable livelihood.

Environmental Survey (Utkarsha)

Funded a research team for a thorough environmental study in the Desert National Park (DNP) region near rural Jaisalmer, detailing the impact of the DNP status allocation.

Political Consensus

Continuous efforts and demonstrations result in serious debates in both Houses of Parliament, with all political parties favoring the cause of Pakistani refugees.

The Nowhere People Report

UJAS and partner researchers publish "The Nowhere People", a landmark report documenting the plight of post-1965 Pakistani refugees and presenting powerful testimonies from public hearings.

UJAS is Registered

Seemant Lok Sangathan is officially registered as a non-governmental organization under the name Universal Just Action Society (UJAS), giving it international recognition.

The Thar Express

Mr. Sodha pioneers the resumption of the Thar Express train running between Sindh and Rajasthan, welcoming the first arrivals as ambassadors of peace between India and Pakistan.

13,000 Citizenships & SLS

Due to the efforts of PVS, 13,000 Pakistani refugees are granted Indian citizenship. Building on this success, Seemant Lok Sangathan (SLS) is formed to address wider issues including livelihood and communal harmony.

Delegation of Power

After intense lobbying, the Government of India formally delegates the power of granting Indian citizenship to the District Magistrates of Rajasthan and Gujarat, making the process much more accessible.

Founding of PVS

Hindu Singh Sodha formally founds Pak Visthapit Sangh (PVS) to provide a united front for displaced Pakistani refugees in Rajasthan and to demand citizenship and proper rehabilitation.

The Assembly Dharna

A peaceful demonstration (dharna) is staged in front of the Rajasthan State Assembly with over 600 migrants, bringing the cause of Pakistani refugees to the attention of the Chief Minister.

Early Advocacy

Hindu Singh Sodha begins advocating for Pakistani immigrants after gaining Indian citizenship himself, participating in social movements and highlighting discrepancies in refugee rehabilitation packages.
